All highways and expressways in Slovenia are toll roads and require a valid vignette.

Slovenia vignettes (E-Vinjeta / Vinjeta Slovenia) cannot be purchased at checkpoints or toll stations and must be ordered online.

All cars, motorhomes, motorbikes and vans up to 3.5 tons are required to have a valid vignette to travel on any toll roads in Slovenia. The Slovenia vignette is linked directly to your vehicle’s license plate.

You don’t need to display any physical document or sticker on your vehicle. The digital registration linked to your license plate is checked automatically by cameras.

About the Slovenia e‑vignette

TheΒ vignetteΒ Slovenia system requires all vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes to hold a valid Slovenia e vignette (E‑Vinjeta) when driving on designated toll motorways and expressways in Slovenia.
The e vignette Slovenia is stored electronically and linked to your licence plate, so you do not need to place any sticker on your windscreen; your digital registration in the national system serves as proof of payment.
You can buy your slowenien vignette / vignetta slovenia / vinjeta slovenija online before you travel and start using the toll roads as soon as your registration is confirmed.

Why you need a vignette in Slovenia

Paying tolls in Slovenia is done through the vignette system rather than traditional toll booths on most motorways and expressways.
Driving on these roads without a valid slovenija vinjeta / vignette slovΓ©nie en ligne is illegal and enforced via cameras, police checks and toll patrols, with fines starting from around €300 and rising up to €800 for misuse or incorrect registration (with a 50% reduction if paid promptly).

Validity and types

The Slovenia vignette is available as weekly, monthly or annual products for most vehicles, with a 6‑month option for motorcycles, and you can choose your desired start date during the order process.
Each vignette is valid until 23:59 on the last calendar day of its validity period, so you are covered for the full final day shown on your confirmation.

Vehicles that need a vignette

Cars and light vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes must hold a valid vignette slovenia, split into: Category 2A (cars and caravans up to 3.5t with height up to 1.3 m above the front axle) and Category 2B (vans up to 3.5t with height over 1.3 m above the front axle).
Motorcycles (Category 1) also require a Slovenia e vignette, while vehicles over 3.5 tonnes do not use the vignette system and instead pay tolls via the DarsGo on‑board unit.

How it is checked and what you need to carry

Your vinjeta slovenija is verified automatically through camera systems and roadside inspections that read your licence plate and check it against the central database.
You do not need to display any physical document in your vehicle, but it is recommended to keep your email confirmation or receipt for your e vignette slovenia accessible on your phone in case of questions from the authorities.
